Mina Johnson | Board Member

As the first Japanese-American elected to Nashville’s Metro Council, Mina represents District 23 serving on committees for Planning, Zoning and Historical; Public Works; and Rules, Confirmation and Elections.  Mina serves on the Homelessness Commission and was appointed to Mayor Barry’s Council on Gender Equality.  She previously served on Mayor Dean’s Citizens Advisory Committee for Amp and the Nashville Next Community Engagement Team.  After moving to the US to open a new business for a Japanese company, Mina decided America was home and became a naturalized US citizen in 2003.  Working in Nashville as a corporate interpreter and bilingual recruiter, Mina married, moved to West Meade and began serving her neighborhood, as well as the Nashville community. Mina, husband Gavin, her mother Shizuka and family dog Santino live in West Meade.  Mina enjoys walking Santino, gardening with her mother, and exploring new restaurants with Gavin in her free time.
